From April 8 to April 14th, 14 Futures and Options students and 3 staff members traveled to Eastern Shore, Virginia to help build a house through Habitat for Humanity. They volunteered alongside construction supervisors, community members, and Habitat homeowners to further Habitat’s vision of a world in which everyone has a decent, safe and affordable place to live. In conquering their fears of heights, power tools, and being responsible for something as important as building a house, our students were empowered to tackle life’s future obstacles. They left with the satisfaction of having contributed meaningfully to the lives of others, with real-life lessons in the value of teamwork, and inspired each other to keep service a part of their lives always.
